The Ethiopian Bible Just Revealed What Jesus Said After His Resurrection—And It’s Shocking
For nearly 2,000 years, the story of Jesus’s resurrection has followed a familiar script: He rose from the dead, appeared to his followers, and ascended to heaven.
But hidden in the mountains of Ethiopia lies a Bible so ancient and comprehensive that it contains secrets the Western church never wanted revealed—especially the words Jesus spoke after his resurrection, as preserved by the Ethiopian Orthodox tradition.
This rare manuscript, handwritten in the sacred Ge’ez language, is part of one of the world’s oldest and largest biblical collections. The Ethiopian Bible contains 81 books, compared to the standard Protestant Bible’s 66.
Fifteen entire books, including apocryphal and forbidden texts, have been preserved by Ethiopian monks who refused to follow Rome’s edits and exclusions.
One of the most important texts is the “Mashafi Kidan,” or Book of the Covenant, which claims to record what Jesus taught his disciples during the 40 days after his resurrection and before his ascension. In these pages, Jesus is not simply a gentle teacher but speaks as the king of heaven and earth, offering chilling warnings and profound prophecies.
He tells his followers to build God’s kingdom not through worldly power, but through the Holy Spirit and inner transformation. He warns that people will eventually twist his words, use his name for personal gain, and build temples of gold while neglecting the true temple—the human soul.
The Ethiopian Bible’s apocalyptic texts go even further. The “Apocalypse of Peter,” almost entirely preserved only in Ethiopia, describes Jesus showing Peter visions of the glory of the saved and the torment of the damned. The punishments for corruption and hypocrisy are graphic and specific, making Dante’s Inferno seem tame. Jesus’s message is clear: the consequences for twisting justice and faith are severe, and true belief is found in the humble and the broken, not in grand displays.
The prophecies contained in these texts invert the traditional image of the church. Jesus foretells a time when love will disappear, faith will become mere performance, and worship will be empty words. Yet, he promises his spirit will rise again—not in temples, but among the humble and forgotten. He teaches that prayer must be lived, not just spoken, and that silence can be more powerful than sermons.
Ethiopia’s unique history allowed these secrets to survive. Unlike much of Africa, Ethiopia was never colonized, preserving its ancient language, culture, and beliefs. According to Ethiopian tradition, the Ark of the Covenant was brought to Ethiopia by Menelik, son of the Queen of Sheba and King Solomon, and remains guarded to this day. Christianity flourished in Ethiopia from the 4th century, isolated from the doctrinal debates and edits of Rome and Constantinople.
The Ethiopian Bible includes the Book of Enoch, the Book of Jubilees, and other texts that describe fallen angels, forbidden unions, and cosmic battles. These stories, once accepted by the early church, were later banned for being too strange and chaotic. Ethiopia kept them, safeguarding a time capsule of early Christian belief.
The most shocking teachings of Jesus, according to these texts, include lessons on the nature of reality, the immortality of the spirit, and the dangers of living without inner light. Some passages echo ancient Gnostic philosophy, describing two creators—one of light and one of shadows—and a world where truth and lies are intertwined. Jesus’s mission, in this account, was not just to save souls but to awaken humanity from a false dream.
Ultimately, the Ethiopian Bible challenges everything the Western world has been taught about Jesus’s words after his resurrection. The warnings are clear, the teachings profound, and the questions they raise—about faith, authority, and the nature of truth—refuse to fade away.
